Hawkesbury pet owners take advantage of free microchipping

24 March 2025

More than 50 Hawkesbury pet owners and over a dozen owners from nearby areas took advantage of Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter’s microchipping day on Saturday 22 March.

Two dogs on leads

Microchipping a dog or cat was free for Hawkesbury residents, with a $10 fee for those outside the area.

In all, 45 dogs and 21 cats were either chipped or had their contact details updated.

Microchipping of cats and dogs is a legal requirement and helps the Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter reunite lost pets with their owners.

In case you missed it, you can go to the shelter anytime within opening hours to get your pet microchipped for $10. Our team can also update your pets microchip details for free over the phone or in person at the shelter. Please have your identification with you and your pets microchip number.

If you’re looking for a new pet, the shelter has many adorable cats and dogs looking for a new home. They are desexed, microchipped and ready to go – for a modest $99 fee.
