Construction on the Woodbury Reserve Skate Park ramps up!
19 February 2025
The excitement continues for Glossodia families with the start of construction on the Woodbury Reserve Skate Park.
Construction commenced at the skate park on Tuesday, 04 February 2025 and follows the completion of the pump track at Woodbury Reserve in August 2024.
The skate park is the next stage of the Woodbury Reserve upgrade which is being co-funded by NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants (WSIG) program ($5.4 million) and the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program ($3 million).
Local community members took part in two skate park design workshops held in October and November last year, to provide first-hand insight into what the local community would like to see included in the final skate park design.
Local kids, Tate, Mason, Blake and Ashton, who attended the design workshops joined Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman and Hawkesbury City Mayor Les Sheather at Woodbury Reserve to officially kick off construction at the skate park.
“It’s great to see the construction of the skate park underway. My $3 million commitment to help Council transform Woodbury Reserve reflects the feedback I’d had from Glossodia residents over many years about the need for better local facilities,” Ms Templeman said.
“I know Council has worked with local community groups and users to get this skate park right, and it was terrific to be with kids who I’d talked to at the design workshops, with their parents, as they inspected the current works.”
Mayor Sheather said: “This is another really exciting step towards delivering the eagerly anticipated revitalisation of Woodbury Reserve.
“The pump track that was opened to the public in August last year is already a much-loved community asset with families flocking here each week to enjoy the facilities. The skate park is an exciting addition that will give the local community even more to enjoy while visiting Woodbury Reserve.”
The Hon, Peter Primrose, MLC, who was unable to join in acknowledging the start of construction, shared in the excitement of this major milestone at Woodbury Reserve saying, “I have visited Woodbury Reserve and appreciate the state and federal Labor governments’ funding for the reserve’s revitalisation to enhance passive and active recreation facilities across the Hawkesbury.”
Woodbury Reserve will receive a substantial upgrade in line with the already-approved Masterplan, which was adopted in February 2022 following extensive community consultation, and will provide the Glossodia community and surrounds with much-needed passive and active recreation facilities.
Council is committed to providing spaces and infrastructure that supports healthy and active lifestyles and celebrates the outdoor beauty of the Hawkesbury.
The Woodbury Reserve upgrade will include:
- New pump track and mountain bike tracks (completed)
- New skate park (under construction)
- New playground
- New multi-purpose courts
- New amenities building
- Improved and additional parking within the site
- Potential for future designated dog off-leash area
- Shared path network
- Improved access to natural areas
- Additional shelters with barbecue facilities
Weather permitting, Council anticipates the Woodbury Reserve redevelopment to be completed in the second half of 2027.
