Apply now for local heritage assistance funding
4 February 2025
In addition to our unique Aboriginal heritage, part of what makes the Hawkesbury so special is its colonial heritage.
To promote a positive attitude towards heritage and encourage its conservation and restoration, Hawkesbury City Council offers an annual Local Heritage Assistance Fund, assisted by Heritage NSW.
The main focus of the Local Heritage Assistance Fund 2024/2025 is to provide funding assistance for the preservation and/or maintenance of Hawkesbury’s unique and significant early settlement timber slab barns and outbuildings within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area. Projects for minor maintenance or conservation of other heritage items may also be considered as part of this year’s program should funding permit.
Owners of heritage properties within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area are encouraged to apply for funding assistance at www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-build/heritage/hawkesbury-local-heritage-assistance-fund which includes an application form and guidelines.
The funding available for any one applicant/property is usually $2,000 on a dollar-for-dollar basis ($1 of grant funding for each $1 of private funding), however, uniquely, for this year’s funding program, Council is willing to consider funding projects without a co-contribution where it can be demonstrated that there is a critical need to preserve the heritage item, and it can be demonstrated that co-contribution funds are unavailable due to financial hardship.
Applications for funding close on Sunday 9 March 2025.
