6 December 2024

A picture of a girl hugging a reindeerSunday night’s Light Up Windsor Christmas Trail was a huge success, with thousands enjoying the festive lights, murals, chalk art, entertainment, food and of course – Santa’s reindeer!

George Street came to life with Christmas cheer after wet weather the day before forced Light Up Windsor Street Fair to be postponed. The Christmas Trail event went ahead on Sunday.

The traditional Light Up Windsor Street Fair will now be held on Thursday 19 December 2024 from 5pm to 9pm.

While there was something to do and see all along George Street from Windsor train station to Fitzgerald Street including the beautiful light projections, the festivities focused on the forecourt of the Deerubbin Centre and Memorial Park.

At the Deerubbin Centre, approximately 2000 people met Santa’s live reindeer Rocky and Matthew, raising more than $570 for The Jeremiah Project – the Mayoral Christmas Appeal beneficiary for 2024. Many more also enjoyed meeting Santa and Mrs Claus, roving entertainment, chalk art, Christmas murals and live music from Hawkesbury District Concert Band.

At the Memorial Park, Windsor Public School held a fundraising sausage sizzle, while crowds enjoyed the chill atmosphere listening to talented local music performers and taking photos with the neon installations.

Retailers and eateries that remained open late reported strong foot traffic throughout the evening, thanks to musicians, lighting displays, festive chalk art installations and murals strategically located along the street.

The Light Up Windsor Christmas Trail was proudly funded by the NSW Government under the Open Streets Program in association with Hawkesbury City Council.
