Packed program of summer holiday activities at Hawkesbury City Council’s library, gallery and museum

Hawkesbury City Council has released its summer school holiday program, with bookings now open for activities at the library, gallery and museum in Windsor.

*Summer Reading Club
1 December 2024 – 31 January 2025
Join the Summer Reading Club (SRC) and be rewarded for reading. Collect coupons for books you read between 1 Dec and 31 Jan, then redeem them at our SRC Shop on Friday 7 February. Register at one of our Libraries, pick up a reading journal and start reading.
Free for children aged 16 and under. Registration essential.

*Book Sale
16 December 2024 – 31 January 2025
Grab a bargain from a huge selection of children’s and young adult stock including board books, picture books, fiction, non-fiction, CDs, DVDs, and graphic novels.
Prices start from 20 cents.

*Holiday Movies
7, 13 & 24 January, 2 – 3:30pm
Get out of the summer heat and relax watching some favourite DVDs. Bring your own snacks and drinks.

*Making Slime
10 January, 2 – 3pm
Explore all thing that ooze, squish and flow in unusual ways. Learn how to make your own slime then investigate its behaviour and properties at this fun science workshop.
$5 – for ages 5 – 12

*Recycled Craft: Things That Move
14 January, 10am – 12pm
Use your imagination to turn loads of recycled material, such as boxes, containers, lids, paper and other stuff into an amazing form of transport.
$2 – for ages 5+

*Great Big Science Show
17 January, 10 – 11am
This interactive show, featuring a variety of spectacular experiments, is a celebration of science, invention and technology that will finish with a BANG!
$5 – for ages 5+

*Kitchen Science
20 January, 2 – 3pm
Conduct simple experiments using items found in the kitchen cupboard. Taste the science of sherbet and discover the results of acid-based chemical reactions.
$5 – for ages 5+

*Beaded Keychain
21 January, 10am – 12pm
Using beads, thread and charms, learn how to create a simple, single-strand keychain.
$5 – for ages 5+

*Junk Jewellery
15 January, 10:30am – 12:30pm
Create your own wearable artworks made entirely from recycled materials. You can create unique handmade jewellery to wear or give to someone special.
$15 – for ages 5 – 12

*Wire Selfie Sculpture
22 January, 10:30am – 12:30pm
In this two-hour workshop you will be guided through the process of creating a unique self-portrait made entirely from wire.
$15 – for ages 8 – 12
