Draft Child Safe Policy on Public Exhibition
New laws and reforms have been passed in the NSW Parliament to help protect children and young people, based on recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
There is now a legislated requirement for councils to become Child Safe Organisations. In keeping with this, Council has developed a Draft Child Safe Policy that is on public exhibition until Thursday, 30 August 2023 at www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au
A hard copy of the Draft Child Safe Policy can also be viewed at Council’s Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor, Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm during the exhibition period.
Council will receive online submissions via www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au or in writing addressed to the General Manager by mail to Hawkesbury City Council, PO Box 146, WINDSOR NSW 2756, or email council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au up to close of business on Thursday, 30 August 2023.
All submissions will be considered and may be included in a Council meeting business paper. Your submission, and any personal information, is accessible by any person upon written application, subject to Council’s Privacy Management Plan and the Government Information (Public Access) Act, 2009. The inclusion of personal information in your submission is voluntary, however, if not provided, may affect consideration of the submission. The information will ultimately be stored in Council’s records system.
For any enquiries regarding this matter, contact Council’s Manager Community Planning and Partnerships, Liz Murphy, on 4560 4444 or by email to council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au with reference to ‘Draft Child Safe Policy’.
Draft Media Policy on Public Exhibition
Hawkesbury City Council’s Media Policy outlines Council’s intentions with regard to the media, together with roles and responsibilities, social media management and associated communication and engagement activities.
A major review of the Media Policy has been conducted to include a wider range of information than the current Media Policy.
The Media Policy has been reviewed and updated in line with best practice and the recently released Model Social Media Policy 2022 and Model Media Policy 2022 prepared by the Office of Local Government. The Draft Media Policy addresses media management for print, digital and broadcast media and Council’s print and digital self-publishing activities.
As part of the review, the Purpose, Scope and Objectives have all been updated to reflect changes in the current media landscape. The purpose of the Media Policy is to provide open and clear communication and to strengthen the existing relationships Council has with the media.
Council’s revised Draft Media Policy is on public exhibition until Wednesday, 30 August 2023 at www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au
A hard copy of the Draft Media Policy can also be viewed at Council’s Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor, Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm during the exhibition period.
