Free Flood Chemical CleanOut Events

To help flood-affected community members, Hawkesbury City Council has arranged for the Environment Protection Authority (NSW EPA) and The Hills Shire Council to run Flood Recovery - Chemical CleanOut Events for the Hawkesbury.

The events will be held on:

* Tuesday, 1 June:
o 8am – 11am, The Pitt Town & District Sports Club

o 2pm – 4pm, Wisemans Ferry Carpark, Off Northern Rd

* Wednesday, 2 June:
o 8am – 1pm, Woodlands Oval, Wilberforce.

An annual Chemical CleanOut event will also be for all Hawkesbury residents on Sunday, 8 August 2021. Hawkesbury City Council thanks NSW EPA and The Hills Shire Council for their assistance towards our Flood Recovery.

At the Chemical CleanOut events, flood affected community members Hawkesbury residents will be able to safely dispose of any potentially hazardous household chemicals. These include:

* household cleaners and solvents
* batteries
* fluorescent globes and tubes
* paint and paint related products
* pesticides and herbicides
* poisons
* gas bottles
* fire extinguishers
* pool chemicals
* hobby chemicals
* acids and alkalis
* car batteries
* motor oils
* fuels and fluids.

Only items that are up to a maximum size of 20L or 20Kg can be dropped off.

These services adhere to NSW Government COVID-19 advice and protocols. Before attending a Chemical CleanOut event, please place all materials in the rear of the vehicle. On arrival, please remain in the vehicle and a contractor will open your boot and collect the items. Onsite contractors will be wearing personal protective equipment and following physical distancing measures.

Primary Producers and Small Businesses that have been impacted by the flood and now need to safely dispose of chemicals and hazardous waste please contact Council’s Waste Education Officer on 4560 4566 to determine if Council can accommodate your needs or if another disposal option would be more suitable.

Draft Fernadell Park Plan of Management and Masterplan Fernadell Park Masterplan and Plan of Management

Public Exhibition – Draft Plan of Management and Landscape Masterplan for Fernadell Park, Pitt Town

Hawkesbury City Council is inviting community members to view and comment on Council’s Draft Plan of Management and Landscape Masterplan for Fernadell Park, Pitt Town, which will be on public exhibition from Thursday, 27 May 2021 until Thursday, 8 July 2021.

The plans have been developed in consultation with the community and will guide how the park may be used, managed and developed in future.

Development of these plans represents Council’s commitment to provide the Hawkesbury community with recreation facilities for all ages and activities. These plans will be guiding documents to ensure that any future development within the park will be consistent with the overall vision for the park. It is not anticipated that full development of the park will be completed in the short term. There will be four Stages to be developed over time as funding permits.

The inclusion of personal information in your submission is voluntary, however, if not provided, may affect consideration of the submission. The information will ultimately be stored in Council’s records system.

Exhibition of Planning Proposal LEP001/19 - 9 Industry Road, Vineyard, 312 Windsor Road, Vineyard and 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town

Council is exhibiting a planning proposal affecting:

* Lot 9 DP 1149340, 9 Industry Road, Vineyard,
* Lot 13 DP 815849 and Lot 6 DP 777933, 312 Windsor Road, Vineyard, and
* Lot 6028 DP 1169449, 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town.

The objective of the planning proposal is to

(a) Reclassify Lot 9 DP 1149340, 9 Industry Road, and Lot 13 DP 815849 and Lot 6 DP 777933, 312 Windsor Road, Vineyard from ‘Community’ land to ‘Operational’ land;

(b) Reclassify part of Lot 6028 DP 1169449, 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town from ‘Community’ land to ‘Operational’ land;

(c) Rezone part of Lot 6028 DP 1169449, 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town from RU2 Rural Landscape to RE1 Public Recreation to enable the development of the subject site for community and recreational purposes;

(d) Amend the minimum lot size for subdivision of Lot 6028 DP 1169449, 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town to part 4,000m2 and part no minimum lot size; and

(e) Amend the maximum height of buildings on part of Lot 6028 DP 1169449, 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town.

The planning proposal aims to achieve this intended outcome by:

* Amending Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan 2012, Schedule 4, Part 1 – Land classified, or reclassified, as operational land – no interests changed to include 9 Industry Road and 312 Windsor Road, Vineyard;
* Amending Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan 2012, Schedule 4, Part 2 – Land classified, or reclassified, as operational land – interests changed to include part of 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town;
* Creating a Land Reclassification (Part Lots) Map for the Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan 2012 to identify part of 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town as being ‘Operational Land’;
* Amending the Land Zoning Map of Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan 2012 to rezone part 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town to RE1 Public Recreation;
* Amending the Lot Size Map of Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan 2012 to permit a minimum lot size of 4,000m2 for part of 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town and removing the current 10ha minimum lot size provision applying to the remainder of 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town;
* Amending the Height of Buildings Map of Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan 2012 to remove the current 10m maximum building height provision applying to part of 7 Fernadell Drive, Pitt Town.

The planning proposal and other supporting documentation is on public exhibition for the period Thursday, 27 May 2021 to Friday, 25 June 2021.

The last day for the receipt of submissions is Friday, 25 June 2021.

Please note confidentiality is not available to respondents. The details of any submissions may be included in a Council report or forwarded to the proponent where it may help to resolve issues raised in the submission. Information (including copies of submissions) may also be released in accordance with Council’s Access to Information Policy.

The inclusion of personal information with your submission is voluntary. However, if not provided, Council will not be able to contact you about the proposal. The information will be stored in Council's electronic records system and paper files. For your protection, Council recommends that you do not include defamatory comments in your submission.

Under Section 10.4(5) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, any person who makes a submission to Council is required to disclose any political donation or gift. Where relevant, a Political Donation and Gift Disclosure Statement is to accompany any submission lodged with Council. This statement can be obtained from Council’s Customer Service Unit or on Council’s website.

Any comments about this proposal may contain information that is personal information, such as information that identifies you, etc, for the purposes of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1988.

Submissions are balanced with Council’s statutory obligations, the rights of the proponent and the public interest. Council must consider any submissions made before it decides whether to proceed with or abandon a proposal.

The Minister for Planning has delegated the making of the local environmental plan to Council.

Community Representation on Council's Local Planning Panel

Hawkesbury City Council is seeking community representatives to become members of its Local Planning Panel (LLP) that comprises three independent state appointed experts and one representative from the Hawkesbury community. The panel determines diverse and interesting applications for development in the Hawkesbury Local Government Area. Closing date for applications is Friday, 11 June 2021.

Expressions of Interest are sought from a mix of people who live locally to join a pool of community representatives. The successful community representatives will be placed on a roster and may be required to attend approximately four meetings a year.

This is a part-time, paid role commencing in July 2021 and remunerated in accordance with rates set by the NSW government.

You will be required to address the below selection criteria in your application.

Selection Criteria – Community Representative
Local community representatives may be selected on the basis that they:
* are current residents within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area
* have an understanding of the Hawkesbury Local Government Area and issues of concern to the local community
* have the capacity to form independent views and to contribute constructively to the determination of applications
* are able to demonstrate a basic level of understanding of the planning system, i.e. knowledge of the Council’s Local Environmental Plan, Development Control Plan, Local Strategic Planning Instrument or Community Strategic Plan
* are committed to:
o following the Code of Conduct for Local Planning Panel Members and the Local Planning Panels Operational Procedures
o attending the Local Planning Panel meetings and contributing constructively to the determination of applications.
